American kimono patterns can be pretty messed up and hard to put together compared to Japanese kimono patterns from what I've seen.

I think for what you are looking for, I suggest finding a Happi pattern rather than a full yukata. Happi are the short cotton coats worn by male or females that usually have pants to go with them. However, since I doubt you will find those patterns in America, just cut the yukata pattern at the hip (or a little higher to fit your body measurements).
