Brazilian jiu jitsu Kimono

The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, also known as the bjj Kimono, is the uniform bjj practitioners wear while training. The traditional colors are white, blue and sometimes black. Other color kimonos are more seldom found. It is made from a special type of fabric that ensures no ripping of any kind during training. They are made to withhold grabbing, pulling, throwing, etc. All Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's should be using strictly 100% cotton, so keep in mind any Gi company that does not supply you with a Gi made of 100% cotton do not buy!

Jiu Jitsu Gi's are primarily made either light or heavy. However, these days you will see special names Gi companies make for their new Gi's such as gold, platinum, pearl, etc. The names usually associated with the lighter Gi's are Single Weave, Pearl Weave, etc. And the names usually associated with the heavier Gi's are Double Weave, Gold Weave, etc. The names of the bjj Gi's are not really important, but what is important is their weight. For competition it is recommended to use a light weight Gi so you'd buy a Single or Pearl Weave. If you're buying a bjj kimono just for training then it is recommended to use a heavier one like a Double Weave or Gold Weave. The weight of the Gi is also usually just a personal preference. One is not better than the other.

In all, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's are simply what bjj fighters wear to practice their martial art of submission wrestling. They are made up of 100% cotton and are usually made either light or heavy in colors of white blue or black. Now decide whether you would like a heavy or light weight Gi and purchase your own Submission Kimono. Train hard!
